A Note from the EditorsMikaEL - Electronic proceedings of the KäTu symposium on translation and interpreting studies comprises articles that are based on presentations given in the annual KäTu symposium. The electronic publication owes its name to Mikael Agricola, a comprehensive humanist, a learned theologian, a linguist and a translator, whose translation of the Bible and other religious texts laid the foundation for the standard Finnish and thus, the Finnish literature. The first volume of MikaEL, published in December 2007, honoured the 450th anniversary of Agricola’s death. The articles in the second volume are based on presentations given in Kätu2008 symposium held at the University of Turku. The articles introduce various research topics in the field of translation studies and interpreting. We thank the participants of the Kätu2008 symposium, the contributors, and all others who have been involved in this project for your co-operation!
